My name is Abdur Rahim Hossain. Everyone calls me AR.
I grew up in Narayanganj — the same city where Bangladesh's jute industry was born.
Five days before launching this website, I had never made a shoe in my life.
I learned something that changed everything.
Bangladesh produces more than 90% of the world's espadrilles.
Brands like Castañer — who charge $141 per pair in Paris — travel to Bangladesh to find their jute.
But on every label, on every box, in every boutique: no mention of Bangladesh. Not one word.
So I made a decision.
I bought 900 grams of jute rope. I watched tutorials. I burned my fingers on needles.
My first sole was crooked. My first pair was uneven.
But I kept going. Because someone had to.
Every pair carries the story of the hands that made it.
Not Spain, not France. The real espadrille capital.
Handmade, honest, built to last.
This is one product. One story. One beginning.
Next comes khadi shirts. Hand-weave denim. Premium cotton panjabi.
One day: AR Hossain stores in London, Tokyo, New York.
But today — today we start with one pair of espadrilles.
